The Pont du Gard

Built in the 1st century AD, the Pont du Gard is undoubtedly the most spectacular part of the aqueduct, and features in UNESCO’s world heritage list.

Roman builders constructed a bridge with amazing dimensions to cross the Gardon valley: 275 metres long, 48 metres high (the highest example from Roman times) with three levels of superimposed arcades.
