Place d'Assas

Here, two monumental heads face each other from each extremity of the place. They represent Nemausa, the spring forming the origin of Nîmes, and the god Nemausus, the male force of the city.

Symbols of Nîmes are scattered here and there for the finding. Water runs from end to end of this fine area designed in 1989 by the painter and sculptor Martial Raysse.
